2009 Celebrity of the Year: The Cast of New Moon!
For the last couple weeks, The Hollywood Gossip has looked back at 2009 by naming the finalists for our prestigious, 3rd Annual Celebrity of the Year award.
In this section, we've been paying tribute to the unique stars that made the past 12 months so memorable for gossip followers across the nation and globe.
Now, following last edition's selection of Miley Cyrus in the #2 spot, we've finally reached the top. Drumroll please...
For 2009, THG's Celebrity of the Year is... the New Moon cast!
Critics might say we're copping out by choosing more than one star for this honor, but come on. Everyone involved with the Twilight Saga deserves recognition for turning a book series into the most popular, buzzed-about film franchise in years.
This doesn't always happen. Remember The Golden Compass? Probably not. Starring Nicole Kidman, it was meant as the first installment in a trilogy based on Philip Pullman's His Dark Material novels. A second movie was never even made.
So, what enabled New Moon to gross over $660 million worldwide? A cast of young, fresh, gorgeous, talented and seemingly grounded individuals. Below, we note each actor's 2009 accomplishments:
Robert Pattinson: Might as well start at the top. The British actor has grown into a global phenomenon. He can't walk away from a film set without being followed by countless paparazzi members, his every interaction with women is chronicled like it's a Presidential summit and he was named one of People's 50 Most Beautiful People of 2009.
Over the course of a few months, Pattinson covered Entertainment Weekly, Harper's Bazaar, OK! Weekly, Vanity Fair and Rolling Stone. He's also dating...
Kristen Stewart: She broods, therefore she is. While Stewart had already appeared in a critically-acclaimed movie (Into the Wild) prior to landing the role of Bella Swan, she took on a cult following after her performance in New Moon. Millions of women around the world both love her and hate her for bagging Pattinson, but one thing is clear: they can't take their eyes off her.
Taylor Lautner: He dated Taylor Swift. He rarely wore a shirt. He was actually able to recruit girls away from Team Edward for Team Jacob, based on his bulked-up role in New Moon. Lautner has already signed on for two new movies and appears to have a huge career ahead of him.
Ashley Greene: The actress almost broke the Internet when naked photos of her were leaked online.
Nikki Reed: Probably the least known main star of the franchise. But she's dating Paris Latsis, Paris Hilton's ex, and has been involved in numerous THG Fashion Face-Offs.
Kellan Lutz: Has the best young body in Hollywood and wants to be the next Jason Bourne. Has been involved with 90210 star AnnaLynne McCord and... did we mention his body?
There you have it. It's been an incredible year and we're grateful that so many readers joined us for the ride. We can't think of a better way to end 2009 than with a photo montage that honors these Celebrities of the Year.

Kristen Stewart's Movie 'Adventureland' makes more Top 10 lists
Simply the Best: Top 10 Films of 2009 By MyCineplex
Adventureland
Nostalgia is a powerful emotion that can evoke the most splendid of memories or haunt someone who thought the worst of it was over. Greg Mottola’s '80s-set Adventureland smartly uses that looking-back sensibility to get to the heart of the matter, ensuring anyone who has experienced post-university/college blues – so wait, I’m an adult now? – will immediately relate to big-hearted, too-smart-for-his-own-good protagonist James (a pitch-perfect Jesse Eisenberg). After his dad takes a big pay cut at work, James is forced to cancel his planned summer in NYC and slug it out with fellow misfits working at the local amusement park, including Martin Starr of “Freak and Geeks” fame and a remarkably mature Kristen Stewart as James' equally clever crush. This sweet, though not cloying, look at those last hazy days of adolescence before life kicks in aptly romanticizes the fleeting nature of youth while happily bidding it goodbye.
The Top 10 By FW Weekly
Adventureland
If you had told me last year that the same actor would star in two of the 10 best movies of 2009, I wouldn't have guessed it would be Jesse Eisenberg. Yet he successfully carried both Zombieland and this wistful teen romance about a budding intellectual who finds love while working at a crappy amusement park. Filmmaker Greg Mottola carefully shades in some all-too-believable characters in this dead-end location, but it's the performances of Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart (check the climactic argument on the street) that are worth losing your head over.
Amazing KStew Fan Encounter on the set of 'Welcome To The Rileys'
I've met her and got to talk to her for a bit. She was really nice. This is my story. It's really long...I've had to type it so many times I finally just saved it on a Word Document....here ya go if you're interested in reading it:
I live in New Orleans (GO SAINTS! WHO DAT!), have lived here my whole life (except for those few months after Katrina evacuation which I generally like to pretend never happened). I am fiercely loyal to New Orleans, and I have to say that it is the most amazing, culturally unique, warm, and welcoming city in the world. That information is actually very relevant to the story of when I met Kristen Stewart....twice! Around 2004 a lot of film studios started shooting their movies in New Orleans, and since then, more and more movies have been filmed here (Curious Case of Benjamin Button, All the King's Men, Glory Road, Just My Luck, The Final Destination, The Skeleton Key, etc). I believe some new local legislation about tax breaks for movie shoots had something to do with it, and in 2006 after Katrina, the whole city really started to throw all support behind these film shoots because they work wonders as far as drawing attention to the city, benefiting the local economy, etc. Anyway, New Orleans has been christened "Hollywood South."
So, I was very excited when I learned that Kristen's new indie movie Welcome to the Rileys would be shot in New Orleans. Initially, it was supposed to shoot in April 2008, but then they pushing it back until finally, it was set for October/November, just before the release of Twilight, before all of the madness. I kept my eyes peeled for news of the movie, and in mid-October, I read in the paper that it was going to be shooting in the Marigny, a really interesting historical neighborhood right next to the French Quarter, where a lot of artists and musicians live. It has lots of really cool shotgun houses. One afternoon when I was in that general area, I drove by the Marigny, and saw that a movie was indeed being shot there, right next to NOCCA (New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts, an arts high school where I lot of my friends took classes). I knew it had to be WTTR!
One evening, I believe it was October 14th or 15th, I had this weird gut feeling that if I drove back to the WTTR set, I would get to meet Kristen. It's kind of hard to explain, I just felt inclined to try my luck, figured it wouldn't hurt to see if I might be able to at least SEE Kristen in person. As I said before, this was before Twilight came out, so not very many people knew who she was. I drove back to the set and parked, and then I decided to just sort of play dumb. I approached a security guard and asked him "What's going on here? Are they shooting a music video or something?" So then he said "No, they're shooting a movie called Welcome to the Rileys." Then I said "OH is that the movie with KRISTEN STEWART?!" The security guard was a really nice guy, and he saw that I got really excited and said "Yes it is. She's actually in her trailer just over there if you want to meet her." Trust me, nobody could be more surprised than I was that he was so cool about it, but like I said, he was just a really nice guy, not a very formidable security guard, and he seemed just generally excited to be on a movie set. Plus, you have to understand that a) It's New Orleans, we're just an incredibly laid back city and b) it was a pretty open, little indie movie type set, and trust me, I know the difference between movie sets based on the kind of movie. Part of Benjamin Button was filmed right in front of my school, and it was incredibly blocked off, impossible to get anywhere near the action. Brad Pitt was on set after all. Anyway, after the security guard told me that Kristen was right there, I absolutely freaked out and walked right over to where the trailers were at base camp, had no idea what I was going to do, but I figured I could just walk through base camp and see what would happen. Well, one of the trailers had its door open, and as I walked by, I looked in and saw Kristen JUST SITTING RIGHT THERE! So I kind of peeked my head in and knocked, and said "Hey, I'm really sorry to bother you, but I'm a huge fan of yours..." And then Kristen said "Oh hey, you can come in." She was sitting there with two men, I think one was her manager or someone like that or crew members or something, they were really nice too. I kept apologizing profusely for like completely invading her trailer, and she was extremely gracious and said it was no big deal. I asked if I could get her autograph, and she said "Of course". I got out my Teen Vogue with her on the cover that I'd brought with me and then I realized that I forgot a pen. So I asked if they had one, but they didn't. Kristen was like "Oh, I could go and get one for you" but I didn't want to bother her anymore, so I just said "Oh no that's ok" and I asked if I could get a picture with her and she said "sure, but I look like a total crackhead right now, but if you don't mind then sure." And I said of course I didn't mind, I looked pretty gross myself.(Pictures Here I cut myself out because it's just not a very cute picture of me)
Kristen was wearing really baggy jeans and a big dark bluish t-shirt. And, I know everyone says this and it's so obvious if you've seen pictures of her or her movies but she is tiny! Not only really skinny, but she also seemed pretty short too. I don't know if it was her posture or something but she was definitely not 5'7. I would think around 5'4 or maybe 5'5.
So after we took the picture she asked me if I went to NOCCA and how old I was a stuff. I said how I was so excited to meet her I was shaking and how talented I thought she was, and she was super nice, just like "oh thank you so much." And then one of the two guys in the trailer said "Your friends are never going to believe this!" And I said "I KNOW! They're going to be SO MAD!" They all thought that was hilarious and laughed. Then she got called to go back to set, so I turned to leave, and said thanks. As I was walking out, one of the guys said "Go see TWILIGHT!" and then I thought that was so funny and turned back and was like "Who isn't?" And they all laughed. Then, as I was turning the corner to go back to my car, I heard someone yell "Hey!" and I looked back and saw her jogging over toward me. She had my Teen Vogue, which I'd forgotten in her trailer. She was gave it back to me and said "Here, you forgot this, I thought you might want it back." And I said "oh thank you so much" and then we said "Bye" and I went back to my car. At that point, I pretty much started hyperventilating I was so excited!
At this point, Kristen hadn't really done any interviews about Twilight or anything, so a lot of Twilight fans spread rumors that she was really bitchy and arrogant. After meeting her, I was really happy to be able to dispel those rumors with my story. She was SO INCREDIBLY NICE!!! If she had been really rude or obnoxious or something, I would've been completely honest and said so, no matter how big of a fan I am. But, she was so sweet! She was even considerate enough to chase after me and give me back my magazine, or to go find a pen, so that she could sign it. I don't think many other people would've been that nice. And she was so sweet the whole time I was talking to her. I never felt like she was talking down to me or being stuck-up or anything. She was really genuinely nice, and very cool. So, although I never thought this could be possible, I became an even bigger Kristen Stewart fan after meeting her!
But the story doesn't end there.....

Rob&Kristen won 'favorite new couple' at the Sugar Awards 2009!
Favorite New Couple: Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart
Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart captivated the hearts of Twilight fans and non-fans alike. The hot young couple won in a landslide for Favorite New Couple of 2009.
There was lots of love and lots of breakups in Hollywood this year. We celebrated the couples and families we love and were sad to see some relationships fall by the wayside.
Eclipse is on Fandango’s Top 10 Must See Movies of 2010
The Twilight Saga: Eclipse
June 30th can’t come soon enough for Twihards who are pining to see more of a vampire-human-werewolf love triangle. The stakes are higher as Victoria, a bloodsucker bent on revenge, builds her own army to kill Bella. You can count on Edward and Jacob to serve up the beefcake in IMAX proportions, too. Third time’s a charm, but we’ll have to wait and see if this most-anticipated flick will phase into another record-breaking weekend.

'Twilight' one of year's top five most illegally downloaded movies
Unfortunately, with regard to Twilight, it's not always good news.
Among the top five most pirated movies of the year is Twilight, according to the BBC. The film is joined by Star Trek, Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen, The Hangover, and RocknRolla on that list. Other films which were heavily pirated this year included Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and District 9.
While, from the looks of this list (and a scan of their situation in this year's box office), pirating did not hinder a strong showing theater sales, it's still not the most settling news that illegal downloading is one of the lists which Twilight tops this year. Though, it does speak highly of the interest surrounding the film . . .
What needs to be remembered, though, is that in order for pirated versions of a film to be made available on the web, a person has to actually go into a theater and break the law at the outset by recording the movie. This jeopardizes their liberty - all for the sake of saving the would-be viewer a few bucks. While a website which distributes the film illegally might be more difficult to ascertain and prosecute, a person sitting there in a theater with a video camera is highly accessible (as we have well seen).
So, do think twice before watching a pirated version of the film. Though it's too late for 2009, maybe the saga can avoid 2010's list.

“Eclipse” Teaser Trailer Rumors Just Tease
Over the weekend many tipsters pointed Gossip Cop to online rumblings of a trailer for “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.” It appears rumors (and descriptions) of a finished teaser started on IMDB, eventually making their way to fan sites and gossip pages.
We were skeptical such a clip was running anywhere. We’ve talked to sources with the production, and none of them had heard of discussions yet for the release of a trailer. It’s also worth noting that Summit Entertainment has been closed since late last week for the holidays, and the studio wouldn’t have released in that period such a critical piece of the “Eclipse” marketing machine.
Women Who Ruled Movies in 2009 – Kristen Stewart
Kristen has been listed as number two on iVillage’s list of women who ruled movies in 2009. Read what they had to say below.
She’s got the power: In New Moon, Kristen Stewart’s Bella is torn between two impossible loves, a vampire and a werewolf. What’s a mortal teenager to do? Thanks to this supernatural sequel to 2008’s Twilight, the cute shy girl is back in vogue just when the pop culture landscape is cluttered with brassy Hannah Montana types. And give it up for Stewart: the 19-year-old strives to avoid the limelight, despite being linked to swoon-worthy co-star Robert Pattinson.

Eclipse actress Bryce Dallas Howard says Kristen Stewart is 'incredible to work with'
While her entry into The Twilight Saga: Eclipse was under rather unsavory circumstances, Bryce Dallas Howard has been putting her best foot forward for Twilight fans by showing complete respect for her predecessor in character portrayal Rachelle Lefevre.
Recently, too, Howard paid some much-deserved homage to co-star Kristen Stewart in an interview with MTV.
"Kristen is fantastic and so, so passionate about this role and this character," she said. " Kristen was incredible to work with, incredible."
2009: The year of 'The Twilight Saga: New Moon'
For Twilight fans at least, the year 2009 was invariably the year of The Twilight Saga: New Moon. Of course, in the beginning, there was still a fair amount of Twilight excitement lingering, what with fans continuing to see the film in theaters (or, let's be honest, on the internet) time and time again and DVD release parties across the country. Yet, the principle attention-grabber in our world was New Moon.
At first, it was casting. There were quite a few roles to fill for New Moon, and we anxiously waited for those announcements to trickle down the pike. It started with Bronson Pelletier, who was rumored to have scored a part in the wolfpack. Then there was Dakota Fanning, who her co-stars were supporting for the part of "Jane." Then a few photos of the current wolfpack out and about led to even more rumors. Finally, the announcement came out and it was time to inspect. At first, everyone was pretty skeptical about the selections. When you have literary characters whose make-up becomes so ingrained in your own minds, theirs become difficult shoes to fill. So, we worried that Jamie Campbell Bower was too young for the part of Caius or that Michael Sheen wasn't old enough . . . etc. This, in turn, led to discussions about what scenes, quotes, and details absolutely had to be in the film. Whether fans were complaining or not, the excitement was still there. The movie was on its way.
So when the announcement came down in the spring that production was kicking off, things got really interesting. On-set photographs from various days of shooting surfaced, interviews with the cast started to come out here and there, and everyone looked toward Italy and how they were going to handle one of the collective favorite moments from the story. Of course, a few set pictures (thanks to the Twilight fan community on location) set everyone's mind at ease, as yellow Porsches, red capes, and, well, a touching embrace between Bella and Edward were witnessed from across the very large pond.
Shortly thereafter, the first teaser for the film was released. It was watched once, twice, three . . . let's just say countless times by each and every one of us. It was the growl heard 'round the world. On the same occasion as the teaser's release, the MTV Movie Awards, the Twilight cast was raking in awards - to the extent that the event is rightfully referred to as the 2009 Twilight Movie Awards.
At that point, filming was complete. Though the "big three" would be scattering across the country to film three different summer pictures, the world would still be watching them. Daily, information and photographs from the set of one of Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, or Taylor Lautner's movies (Remember Me, The Runaways, and Valentine's Day respectively) would come about - to the point, mind you, that at least one of the films was practically revealed in total (thank goodness for indoor shoots, eh?) before our eyes.
In August, though, Vancouver was poppin' with Twilight stars once more as they got to work on The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. While there were still paparazzi photos from the area once in a while, the on-set experience differed greatly from New Moon. Thus, the atmosphere was a bit unchanged in the fandom as New Moon's theatrical release neared. A full trailer, quite a few TV spots, unbelievable press and globe-trotting for the cast, and so many still frame images (primarily stemming from the Official Companion) later, the New Moon premiere was upon us.
There were some who camped out for days and others who relaxed in their PJs to catch it on MySpace. Nevertheless, most Twilight fans watched as the cast for New Moon trekked down the red carpet, one by one, into what was the first screening of the film for many of them. Soon enough, the film would be released, and Twilight fans would make their ultimate mark on film society with historical opening night numbers and a stellar showing at the box office. Even those who'd never uttered the word Twilight had it on the brain as a consequence of New Moon's opening (for better or for worse).
A few weeks later, and everyone's beginning to look forward to the DVD release. Nearly the entire year - to this day - held The Twilight Saga: New Moon as a focal point for Twilight fans. It was exciting, nerve-wracking at times, and completely overwhelming at others, but the mood was New Moon from start to finish. As the year comes to a close, one can't help but remember all of the fun we had in anticipation.
With The Twilight Saga: Eclipse right around the corner, 2010 looks to be pretty good for Twilight fans as well . . .
So, what was your favorite New Moon moment in 2009? Comment below and let us know!
Kristen Stewart: The Belle of 2009
It’s safe to say, 2009 was certainly a stellar year for actress Kristen Stewart.
The beautiful brunette began her acting career at the age of eight and has since been featured in over 30 films, one of those being “Twilight” which launched her into international stardom.
The “Twilight Saga” consists of three films (so far) based on Stephanie Meyer’s bestselling vampire romance including “Twilight,” “New Moon” and “Eclipse” - in which Stewart shines as lead role, Bella Swan.
It was on the set of these films that the 19-year-old actress was introduced to Robert Pattinson, who plays the role of Edward Cullen in the popular saga.
The two, who share an intense on-screen romance, have since caught the attention of millions of fans all over the world, and have sparked hopeful rumors that they share an off-screen romance as well.
Choosing to stay very private about the matter, their relationship has not been confirmed publicly, but from the looks of it, Stewart and Pattinson are one of the hottest couples in Hollywood.
If you can’t get enough of the lovely Kristen, you’re in luck! She has four films - “The Runaways,” “Welcome to the Rileys,” “Eclipse” and “K-11” - coming out in 2010.
Kristen Stewart to Play Lisbeth Salander in Hollywood Remake of Millenium Series
According to Picca Blog, Kristen is in the talks for the leading female role in a Hollywood remake of the Swedish Millenium series. Nothing has yet been confirmed by officials but it’s certainly interesting to discuss role rumors.
Earlier this week here at Popcorn disclose that Sony Pictures is negotiating to buy the rights to the series Millennium, and now there is news for the project. In addition to highlighting the star George Clooney as the character Mikael Blomkvist, the actress who will interpret the Lisbeth Salander has no name.
Well, Kristen Stewart, Bella of the Twilight series, is listed to play the hacker in the trilogy Millennium. Kristen, like Clooney, is considered the only option of Sony, which already holds the rights to adapt.
Also revealed two actresses who would like to interpret the hacker. Ellen Page and Natalie Portman have said they are interested in the role.

Five Beauty Lessons We Learned This Year from the Cast of The Twilight Saga: New Moon
Whether you're into the whole Twilight thing or not, you've got admit, the ladies of the series (Kristen Stewart, Nikki Reed, and Ashley Greene) taught us all some important things about makeup and hair in 2009. Here are their top five lessons:
Lesson 1 (from Kristen Stewart): If your cheeks get flushed easily in the winter, switch to peach blush.
Her makeup artist advised us that pink shades'll just make you look ruddy in that situation.
Lesson 2 (from Ashley Greene): A smoky brown eye is more mysterious than the usual black version.
Lesson 3 (from Kristen Stewart): Hard-to-grow-out haircuts happen to everyone. But keep on trucking in the meantime.
Lesson 4 (from Nikki Reed): Adding a braid or two can turn a simple hairstyle into a wow 'do.
Lesson 5 (from Ashley Greene): They don't call it "hot" pink lipstick for nothing. Super sexy, that color.
Of course, we also learned things from the move itself, too, like the importance of tucking your hair behind your ear at key moments and embracing paleness, but what about these real life lessons? Take any to heart? Loving these points? Feel free to discuss below.

The Best of 2009: Kristen Stewart's Steeze From Lainey Gossip
Apart from that dumbass Harper’s Bazaar shoot for the Sears catalogue which was totally not her fault, Kristen Stewart made very few missteps this year on and off the carpet. Not everyone can pull off a Joan Jett mullet the way Kristen Stewart pulls off a mullet – with a middle finger in the face of those who insist that girls should wear pretty bows and ringlets. In an industry full of too many blondes who blend in as one indistinguishable Hills face, Stewart so far seems to be refusing to succumb to a prescribed sartorial mold. Very cool.
Her selections at the summer award shows were pure fresh attitude and her wardrobe during the New Moon publicity blitz was almost flawless, demonstrating through it all a willingness to look not like everyone else but to experiment with her own style personality. At 19, you experiment. At 19, you can afford to. With her face, she should. And she does. And most of the time it’s a super win. Without a fake tan, without a weave, without concrete tits, and above all, without desperation. She wants to be stylish, sure, but she doesn’t slave away for it either. She’s not like Lindsay Lohan begging to be declared an “icon”, on her knees every time a photo shoot opportunity comes around.
2009 also saw the emergence of Kristen Stewart as a player in the fame game, a much smarter, savvier, and willing participant in an industry in which she seems fully capable of thriving. She KNOWS. And she works it. And she’ll benefit from it. And this is good. So for all you Twi-Hards who are constantly complaining about the paps and to leave them alone and it’s too much and this and that….chill. This is not a helpless flailing wide-eyed vulnerable starlet who cannot navigate the Life.

From her Film Career to her Fashion Sense, Kristen Stewart is one to watch in 2010
Kristen Stewart
You would have to have been living under a rock to not know who Kristen Stewart is. The Twilight star was the main actress in the biggest series of the year (as well as part of a rather juicy ‘are they or aren’t they?’ love triangle) and is set to appear in a new film at the Sundance Film Festival in January. She has also just discovered her inner fashionista, appearing at the Twilight premieres in a whole host of designer garb from Proenza Schouler to Balenciaga. So, with a glittering film career (including part 3 of the Twilight saga) ahead of her and a strong fashion future, we’re sure keeping an eye on this one.
The Twilight Saga is one of Popsugar's "The Decade's 10 Biggest Celebrity Stories"
Twilight, Harry Potter and LOTR Are Sagas We Love
The first Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings both came out at the end of 2001 and easily established their series' place as some of the biggest of all time. Throughout the subsequent installments, box office records were smashed around the world and the awards came rolling in — LOTR even racked up an impressive 17 Oscars between the three films. In 2008, Twilight became the latest book-to-movie saga sensation thanks to the millions of fans and, of course, Robert Pattinson. Twilight and Harry Potter both have movies to come, which means more world domination on the way!
Kristen Stewart Wishes for Christmas Dinner with John Steinbeck
Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson dig into the Stocking of Truth for their Christmas question.
The duo, who were then promoting New Moon, ironically pulled out the same question: What celebrity would you like to kiss under mistletoe?
Kristen shared, “I don’t know. I wouldn’t really want to kiss anyone I didn’t know. I’m a weirdo like that. I should’ve picked another one.”
She did. So when she picked who she could dine with for Christmas dinner, Kristen said, “I just answered this one a couple days ago. [John] Steinbeck. He wrote ‘East of Eden,’ the most fundamental book that covers almost absolutely everything. He called it his Bible. I would love to have dinner with him.”
Robert joked about the mistletoe question, “I can’t even think of any celebrities. Ricky Gervais — I like him a lot.”

10 wishes for Kristen Stewart in 2010
As 2009 approaches its end, one can not help but to look forward to 2010 and what a great year it may shape up to be for The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Runaways star Kristen Stewart. Team 411 has a few (ten) wishes for Kristen Stewart in 2010.
With four films scheduled for release in 2010, two of which will have world-premieres at the Sundance Film Festival in January, next year is shaping up to be a big one for Kristen. So we here at Team 411 have come up with 10 wishes for Kristen Stewart in 2010. Please note, these are not in any particular order.
• The Runaways is the sleeper hit of the year
I’m specifically thinking of the kind of success Napoleon Dynamite had after a solid Sundance premiere in 2004. Napoleon Dynamite opened in limited release first, as The Runaways will, and then built up over several months through word of mouth until it went into wide release about three months after its initial opening. It was considered a breakout hit for the filmmakers. The Runaways is Floria Sigismondi’s first feature film, so it could be her breakout movie. Of the three non-Twilight releases KStew has next year, this is the one I’m picking for most-likely commercial success.
• Welcome to the Rileys is the darling of the 2010 festival circuit
Think Precious. Strong showing at Sundance, slow build throughout the year based on positive reviews and word of mouth, culminating in awards-season hardware. I don’t see Rileys playing to a wide audience like The Runaways potentially could, but I can easily see it dominating the art house scene over 2010. The very early buzz is that the acting is phenomenal and this could be Jake Scott’s (son of Ridley) establishing film. I’d like to see Rileys bringing home some nominations late next year.
• Eclipse is not only good for a Twilight movie, but is actually a GOOD MOVIE
Let’s face it, Twilight and New Moon have not exactly been great cinema. New Moon considerably raised the bar for Saga Director #3 David Slade, but I think he can not only match Chris Weitz’s work in New Moon, but surpass it with Eclipse. I’ve always felt Eclipse was the strongest book in the series, so it makes sense for some of that to translate to the film. There’s just so much going on. Werewolves, vampires, Edward vs. Jacob, Bella’s “betrayal”, the leg hitch, the fight! Edward ripping people’s heads off and setting them on fire! Also, Eclipse benefits from a summer release date, when critics are more conditioned to cut movies like this a little slack, since it is popcorn season, after all, which will maybe spare us from some of those brutally harsh reviews we’ve seen for the previous two movies.
• Kristen earns a major nomination (Golden Globe, Oscar, Screen Actors Guild)
This is entirely doable. She has two movies that are potential award-bait with The Runaways and Welcome to the Rileys. And because so many in the industry feel she’s getting snubbed this year for Adventureland, next year voters could leap at the opportunity to make it up to her. This wish for Kristen is a direct correlation to the first two—if either Rileys or The Runaways does well, I see no reason for the academies and guilds to blow her off. Again.
• Kristen continues her growth as an actress
Since 2007 Kristen’s non-Twilight roles (Adventureland, Welcome to the Rileys, The Runaways) have become more complex, her portrayals more carefully crafted. She is an actress still adjusting, still learning, still growing into her talent. Perhaps The Runaways and/or Rileys will do for KStew what An Education has done for Carey Mulligan, but I have a feeling we haven’t begun to see the apex of the sort of roles Kristen will be offered over the next couple of years. Also, I think I would like to see her try another blockbuster. I know she says she has no interest in it, but I think if the right project came along, perhaps one that was slightly more grown up (think Iron Man or the Batman reboot) with the right director attached, it could be interesting to see Kristen, the anti-starlet, work another billion-dollar franchise.
• That Kristen’s name is in print more for her work than her personal life
We’re as gossipy as anyone else, don’t get me wrong, but we would like to see Kristen’s work getting as much mainstream recognition as her personal life. To many, many people she is still just “that Twilight girl” who is dating “that Twilight guy”. This should be changing in 2010. Even though Eclipse will be a big-deal summer release with yet another obnoxiously huge press tour, Kristen has three other projects coming out. There will be a lot of attention on her work next year, especially if one or more of her non-Twilight movies make it to awards season. Tabloid covers are inevitable, but there should be plenty of serious, work-related coverage to balance it out.
• KStew gets a Rolling Stone cover
Ancillary to the above, we’d love to see Kristen on the cover of Rolling Stone. Obviously, her best shot at this is with The Runaways, which means gracing the legendary music mag’s cover probably with either costar Dakota Fanning or the real Joan Jett herself. We already know Kristen will be in the Vanity Fair Hollywood Issue—how great would it be if she was also on the cover of Rolling Stone in the same year?
• Paparazzi-free gas stations
Disturbing. Sad. Insane. Kinda pointless? The summer of 2009 will always be The Summer In Which Crazy Razzi Stalked Kristen Stewart Through The Gas Stations of Los Angeles. Along with increasing Kristen’s “legitimate” press coverage is reducing her tabloid presence. And that means no razzi following her through the local Kwik E Mart.
• The steeze keeps getting better
Kristen made some waves late this year with her fashion on the New Moon press tour. As her profile rises and fashion sense continues to evolve, I am expecting Kristen to make more and more “best dressed” lists, as well as donning ever more illustrious designers on red carpets around the world. The next step for KStew’s steeze? Original garments designed just for her.
• The face of a fashion campaign
It’s inevitable. She’s beautiful, she’s original, she has attitude and style to spare. Kristen Stewart will be made the face of a major fashion campaign. I would like to see it sooner rather than later, and I would like to see it with a major, major designer. I’m talking Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana—that upper echelon of fashion design. Nothing that would be available in a mall. I want to see Kristen in the haute-iest haute couture, perhaps on a billboard in Times Square, staring down the passers-by with her fierce WANT.
The Jettheads weigh in on who is singing lead in 'The Runaways' teaser trailer
[UPDATE: Cherie Currie confirmed in the comments below that Dakota Fanning is singing lead on "Cherry Bomb" by herself.]
So, who is singing lead on “Cherry Bomb” in The Runaways teaser trailer, anyway?
It never occurred to me to question it, since I know that Cherie Currie sang “Cherry Bomb” on The Runaways album in 1976 and Live in Japan in 1977. Therefore, Dakota Fanning must be singing lead, with Kristen Stewart singing backup, of course.
But fans are speculating all over the web that it could be Kristen singing lead in the trailer, and not Dakota.
Fueling this debate is a Spin.com article from last week which states:
“Yep: the revamped music of “Cherry Bomb” features lead vocals from the vampire-lover herself.” [Obviously referring to Kristen.] SOURCE
While some fans think Kristen is singing lead and others think it’s Dakota, a few are saying that Dakota sings “Hello Daddy, hello Mom,” Kristen sings “Hello world I’m your wild girl,” and they both sing the “Cherry Bomb” parts. After listening to the trailer again, and again, this argument appears to have merit. The “Hello world” line doesn’t sound quite the same as “Hello Daddy.”
But I wasn’t convinced that it was Kristen, so I took the question to the Sinners message board and asked the Jettheads.
Here’s what we think: It sounds like Dakota Fanning and Cherie Currie’s vocals are blended together. We don’t have any official sources for this information, but based on what we know of Cherie’s voice and how the band sang “Cherry Bomb” with her, this is the most likely explanation to us. We don’t know if all of Dakota’s vocals were recorded that way, or if they just mixed the trailer like that. The close-ups of Kristen singing appear to be from a different scene because Kristen isn’t wearing the red jumpsuit, so whatever she is singing there may not be “Cherry Bomb” at all:
The verdict: It is very difficult to determine anything from a movie’s trailer, let alone a teaser trailer. What we see and hear in the final movie will look and sound very different from this trailer. We shouldn’t sweat it. Yet.
Have no fear, KStew fans. Joan sang lead on many Runaways songs, both before and after Cherie left the band. Kristen had plenty of opportunities to sing lead in The Runaways.

Kristen Stewart

An air of intelligent vulnerability separates Stewart from just about any young actress working today. She’s not a commanding diva, but a young woman still sensitive to the outside world and her own emotions. It might surprise you to go back to David Fincher’s “Panic Room” and rediscover Stewart as Jodie Foster’s daughter, upping the intensity with a portrait of genuine childhood terror. She added “Zathura,” “Into the Wild” and “Adventureland” to her stable of conflicted characters, but the “Twilight” franchise made her a worldwide icon. Stewart held together two not-so-sturdily crafted films by playing Bella Swan as a girl out of her depths, reconciling the world of vampires with the instincts of her own heart. Stewart isn’t eye candy or the “it” girl. She’s the Everygirl, struggling with how to feel and how to act. That’s why she’s a movie star. We can relate. —SJS

Kristen Stewart’s 2009 VMA Makeup Artist Talks
This was my first time working with Kristen Stewart (who by the way, is SUCH a cool girl), and I had a vision for her look: pale skin with burgundy smoky eyes.Together with the hair stylist and Kristen’s assistant John, we decided on the dress. After watching Kristen try on a few, we all felt the Valentino was special and different from what she has been seen in before. Kristen has been growing her hair out since her Joan Jett movie and superstar hairstylist and Pantene spokesperson Hallie Bowman from The Wall Group decided to trim Kristen’s bangs to make sure they were not too long and in her eyes. To give them separation, she then used pins to pull up the back of Kristen’s hair–making her look like she had a much shorter do than she actually does.
For my part:
Skin: I moisturized using Clark’s Botanicals Marine Smoothing Cream, and used Korres Primer. I then applied a mix of Flouron and Harlot Liqui-gel stain from my line Beauté to the apple of the cheeks, using my finger tips. I used a little more than I really thought was needed, so that when I applied Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer in Nude over it that it would be muted and look like it were coming from within. I used Laura Mercier undercover pot #2 to conceal any redness and used it under her eyes as well.
Once I was finished with that, I used Kanebo Sensai loose powder to set the makeup and then applied Kevyn Aucoin The Sculpting Powder under the cheekbones and along the jawline to define her face and cheekbones. For eyes, I used Dior shadows in Stylish Move, over black pencil, mainly using the burgundy and deep purple shades in the quint, concentrating color along the lashline and blending out. I then applied black liner to the inner rim of the eye and curled lashes with the Shu Uemura 24K gold lash curler, then applied YSL faux cils mascara to lashes, top and bottom. Lips were a pink-beige gloss called Medusa from Beauté which Kristen happily took with her to the show to reapply!
Kristen Stewart texts Anna Kendrick to congratulate her on her Golden Globe nom
Anna Kendrick must be flying high right about now. After all, she was in the highest-grossing movie of the year and has taken away a Golden Globe nomination for Up In the Air. The only thing that could be better? Winning the award, of course. But Anna's a little bit nervous about all the awards shows. 24-year-old Anna Kendrick has had a fabulous year. But it's not quite over yet. Next up? The Golden Globes show. She's, of course, excited, but also a little nervous. Anna says, "I always feel like someone's going to catch me in some gorgeous gown, but they'll realize that I'm the girl who usually wears Converse and then kick me out of the party." Uhh I doubt it! I have a feeling Anna's going to fit in just fine in a gown. She says she's really excited about all of her co-stars who were nominated for Golden Globes and that she emailed co-star Vera Farmiga after the nominations were announced: "I was like, 'Best Golden Globes table ever? I think so!' I can't believe everybody's nominated. It's going to be the best party." Of course, I can't even imagine what it's like to get a Golden Globe nomination, but I can imagine the excitement Anna is feeling. She says even Kristen Stewart texted her after the nominations! According to Anna, "Kristen [Stewart] sent me a text... She sent me a really, really sweet text." We wish Anna Kendrick lots of luck and the Golden Globes! And congratulate her on her Screen Actors Guild Award nomination, too. And I can't wait to see what she's wearing to the awards show!

The Votes Are in: Best Celebrity Trendsetter Is Kristen Stewart
She's had a whirlwind year and more hair and makeup changes than a Britney Spears concert, so it's no surprise that Kristen Stewart topped our readers' list of trendsetters for 2009. While we love Kristen, those of us at Sugar HQ have a soft spot for someone whose beauty antics were endlessly entertaining and inspiring — the one and only Lady Gaga. We know she's wild and wanton, and we adore her for it. Baby girl is single-handedly bringing the avant-garde back to pop music, and we wholeheartedly approve.

Is Kristen Stewart's Man Safe?
After Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart's successful private date night, we're feeling even better about Robsten's current status. Aren't you?
We're superglad these overworked kids have caught a break from the flashbulbs as of late and been able to successfully evade, well, us, for a bit (but certainly not always). Unfortunately, what happens when the two are MIA is the tabs and A.T. message boards go crazy with ridiculous "Rob and Kristen hate each other" stuff, and there's always a new gal Rob is linked to. Even his manager, Stephanie Ritz, has been victim of supposedly falling under R.Pattz's spell. Yeah right.
So does Kristen have anything to worry about? Who are you most concerned will crawl all over Rob, say, Megan Fox style? Rob-Eater Poll: Who is Kristen Stewart's competition right now?

JettStew Love: A Pep Talk to Kristen Stewart from a Jetthead
Dear Kristen,
You have no idea who I am, and you will never read this. I have recently become a fan of yours, and that’s mostly because of your upcoming role as Joan Jett in The Runaways movie. I have been a Joan Jett/Runaways fan for 21 years, which is why I am compelled to write this letter (that you will never read). When I heard that you had been cast to play Joan, I had no idea who you were. But with Joan herself at the helm, I trusted that she would surround the movie with people that would respect her first band, her baby. I was curious and excited. Since then, I’ve been reading and watching your interviews, checking out your other movies, and trying to decide if I think you can be Joan Jett. I do. First, the screaming attention you are getting from Twilight will be good practice for playing a teenaged Joan Jett being chased through the streets of 1977 Japan. That’s the easy part. Your challenge is to figure out who Joan Jett is. You are familiar with the terms that the media uses to describe her: Icon, trailblazer, badass. Those words are convenient, but I think they are cheap. They don’t come close to the truth. We, in the Jetthead community, don’t merely admire Joan for her accomplishments. We love her. We don’t love her wardrobe, her haircut, her platinum records, her legacy, or her business acumen. We love her for one reason: She is one of us. Her music is what gets us, literally. It got me when I was 12. The last song on the Up Your Alley album, Play That Song Again, is about a broken, lonely person who just wants it all to go away—until they hear music, and they get a little stronger. That song was about hope. That song was about me. I soon found that every one of her albums had a piece of me in it. I wondered how she knew. There is more to Joan than some intuitive lyrics wrapped in a leather jacket. She has a special way of interacting with people through her eyes. You’ve hung out with her, so I know you’ve seen it. We call it the “Jett Eye Lock” when it happens during a show, but her energy can penetrate TV screens and the pages of a magazine. She seems to be trying to tell you all the truths to the universe with her gaze. But in that shared moment, only one truth matters: This is Who I Am. Joan started out as a girl with a dream that defied logic. People laughed at her. People told her that girls could not and should not play the guitar. People called her horrible names and told her to grow up, get married, have babies, and whatever else would be “normal” and “proper” for a “young lady.” But she did not stop. They threw things at her on stage, yelled at her to go away, and she still did not stop. When I learned of this, I became very protective of Joan. To believe in a reality that no one else could imagine, without question and without hesitation, must have been lonely. I could relate. I am not strong enough to slay her dragons, but I can easily take a few insults on the schoolyard, or write letters like this. She deserves it. The woman inspires loyalty. And you are the lucky one—the chosen one—that gets to bring all of this to the big screen. It’s a weighty responsibility. My advice to you is to keep it simple. Joan Jett is the ultimate symbol of faith and hope to many, but she doesn’t strut around like some feminist gift to the universe. This is just her life. This Is Who She Is. If Joan’s quiet determination is anything like Bella Swan, then music is her Edward Cullen—her entire reason for being. Like Twilight, The Runaways movie is a love story, just not a romantic one. I wish I could promise you that every Jetthead will be on your side. Some will be, but some of them will be passionately against you. To some, no one will be good enough. That is not your fault. They just want to protect her. To take this role on, you need to stay focused. People will criticize you in ways you can’t even imagine, but for God’s sake don’t listen. Don’t worry about how you are going to live up to our expectations of Joan’s character. Listen to your inner acting voice and trust that you already have what it takes to be Joan Jett. You may not have known the magnitude of the Twilight universe at first, but you do understand Joan’s influence now. You feel the pressure, and it scares you—but you’re doing it anyway. And you can’t get any more Joan Jett than that. I’m not worried about your ability to perform the music in the film either, but if you are, just fill the premiere with Runaways fans. We’ll sing with you.
Much love and thanks, JJElektric
A Reality Show Based Around The 'Twilight' Hometown, Forks, Could Be Coming To TV
Thanks to author Stephenie Meyer, the once little-known Western Washington hamlet of Forks has become a hotbed for "Twilight" mania. We already looked at how the franchise saved the small town from economic hardship. And documentary filmmakers recently turned their lenses on the logging community for the film "Twilight in Forks," which will be released on DVD alongside "New Moon." So it seems like the next logical step is a Forks reality show, right? Anyone?
A casting call has gone out for Forks residents (yes, you must permanently live in the town!) to try out for a proposed reality show, reports the Forks Forum. Little information was given about the nature of the show, which left us imagining what some of our favorite reality shows would look like if they were given the Forks treatment...
"Survivor: Forks" The coven has spoken! Two teams of unwitting humans are released into the vampire- and werewolf-invested forests of the Olympic Peninsula. The last contestant standing with all his/her blood and limbs in tact wins. "Real World: Forks" This is the true story, of seven strangers (not all entirely human), picked to live in the woods and have their lives taped, to find out what happens when vampires stop being polite and start getting real ... real bloody. "Fork of Love" One lucky lumberjack must date 15 logger groupies, eliminating one each week until he finds his one true Fork of Love. Weekly challenges include tree climbing, chainsaw juggling, and a flannel bikini contest. Are you excited about the possibility of a Forks reality show? Which of your favorite reality shows would you like to see get the Forks treatment?
Confirmed: Robsten Sneak Beach Date Before Public Partying!
Undercover lovers Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart were spotted out together in Venice Beach yesterday, escaping the shutterbugs and enjoying a private date night. Take that, all you Robsten haters! While everyone seems so hell-bent on having Rob hook up with the likes of Katy Perry (just because they're photographed at an event, please), a source spills to us that Robsten was dining at Gjelina restaurant on Abbot Kinney before scoping out the fab A. Kinney Court opening next door.
Says our insider who attended the party:
"Robert and Kristen were eating next door and peaked in the window after their dinner as the party was wrapping up." We all know that Robsten likes to keep a low profile, so showing up to an event opening together where Owen Wilson, Zach Galifianakis, and Olivia Wilde also were in attendance totally isn't their scene. But the concept fashion boutique and eyewear store totally suits Kristen's chiller style, so we know why they would take a pause to check it out. Atta girl, you tell your man to make some time for window shopping! "Kristen was wearing an old white T-shirt with her hair in a ponytail," our eyes tell us. "Rob was wearing jeans, a tee, and a dark coat. "It looked like they were on a nice stroll through the neighborhood. They seemed really just into hanging together." So did R & K opt for some PDA since not too many people were looking? "They weren't holding hands, but were really sweet with each other." We all know that R.Pattz's night didn't end there. He went out to celebrate his friend Shannon Woodward's birthday at Dimples karaoke bar alongside Katy Perry. Rob showed up around 11:15, plenty of time to drop K.Stew off where she needed to be. The A. Kinney Opening ended around 10. Sweet that R.Pattz wanted to spare his truer emotions from the waiting paps he knew would be documenting his every move later on. A spokesperson for Gjelina declined to comment about Robsten's romantic meal saying, "We wouldn't be able to tell you about that." A rep for Kristen also kept mum saying, "We don't have a comment, but thank you." We're just glad the couple got in some quality relaysh time! Love it, or love it? It's utterly and truly Robsten-style amour at work, every angle you look at it, as we trust you will.
Look for Kristen Stewart in Vanity Fair's 'The Hollywood Issue'
If you were wondering what other magazine publication you might see The Twilight Saga: New Moon, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, and The Runaways star Kristen Stewart in (other than Interview Magazine, Harper's Bazaar, and Allure, that is) wonder no more. Lainey Gossip revealed that Kristen Stewart would be featured in the forthcoming Vanity Fair "Hollywood Issue" with women like Abbie Cornish, Amanda Seyfried (who she appeared in VF with on a prior occasion), and Evan Rachel Wood. The "Hollywood Issue" is typically a star-studded affair (on-going annually since 1995), so the spread should turn out to be a rather lovely addition to your magazine rack! Below is a slideshow of VF's "Hollywood Issues" (shot by Annie Leibovitz) over the years. The issue will probably debut in March, 2010.
Team 411 talks Kristen Stewart and comedy
Kristen Stewart and comedy? Well, Team 411 seems to think there is (or at least that there can be) a relationship between the two.
This week Team 411 somehow ended up on the topic of Kristen Stewart’s potential as a comic actress. “Comedy” is not a word most people immediately associate with Kristen, and it’s true, her resume is drama-heavy. However, this is an intriguing idea. In interviews, Kristen often displays a dry, ironic wit. As seen at the MTV Movie Awards when she dropped her award, she is capable of poking fun at herself, and is not afraid to roll with looking less-than-perfect at all times. So we got to thinking—could Kristen be a successful comic actress?
I think yes and no. Simply put, could she make a career out of it—no. She just isn’t that type of actress. But could Kristen be very funny in a comic role? Yes. There is evidence of some comedic chops in her past work. To date, Kristen has been in five projects you could classify as comic, though none of them are straight comedies.
Adventureland and What Just Happened are dramedies, Zathura and Catch That Kid are action-comedies. I’m going to call the 2007 short film Cutlass a dramedy, too, though it is probably the most light-hearted thing Kristen has done to date.
When thinking of Kristen Stewart in a comedic role, I think of directors like Wes Anderson (Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums), Spike Jonze (Being John Malkovich), or Michael Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), directors who make intelligent, slightly esoteric comedies that are highly stylized and feature subtle wit. These directors use actresses in their films one doesn’t automatically think of when choosing a comedy to watch on a Friday night. Gwyneth Paltrow, Meryl Streep, Catherine Keener, Kate Winslet—all these actresses have turned in fine comedic performances. Also, Jesse Eisenberg, Kristen’s costar in Adventureland, helmed horror-comedy Zombieland to great effect. His droll deadpan was perfect for an apocalypse survivor suffering Z shock.
That said, I don’t exactly picture KStew making a slapstick comedy. Although… Wouldn’t it be intriguing to see her work with Judd Apatow (40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up)? Think of James Franco in Pineapple Express—which was produced by Apatow—no one saw his brilliant turn as stoner Saul coming. Could Kristen surprise us all in the same way? She’s an actress known for her total commitment to her character, and committing yourself fully to looking stupid is the key ingredient to good comedy. She has also demonstrated considerable physical ability in the past, which means she’s got a good pratfall somewhere in her. So yeah, I do think she could surprise us one day with a comedic performance.
People often ask what kinds of roles I’d like to see Kristen attempt. Given that her upcoming films continue to expand her repertoire as a dramatic actress, I would love to see her try and make me laugh. What about you?
Thoughts?
Kristen Stewart's first 'Runaways' trailer will debut EXCLUSIVELY on MTV
If the five seconds of Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart on screen together in "New Moon" weren't enough to tide you over, we at Hollywood Crush are happy to announce we will exclusively be debuting the very first "The Runaways" trailer tomorrow at 9 a.m. EST! We know we're excited to have a first look at Kristen's acting, especially since it already got Joan Jett's approval.
But to show this post isn't a total tease, we also have for you the first look we've had at Kristen and Dakota together in the film (see it in full after the jump!), which hit the Internet yesterday. Although the movie is about the first band Joan Jett and Lita Ford made together, The Hollywood Reporter reports that the film is really about the relationship between Kristen's Joan and Dakota's character, Cherie Currie.
In other good news, "The Runaways" finally has a US distributor in the form of Apparition, the movie studio that put out "Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day" and "The Young Victoria." "The Runaways" is debuting at Sundance next month, but also now how has a March 2010 release date.

Kristen Stewart makes Time’s “People Who Mattered” List
Along with Robert Pattinson, Kristen makes Time’s “People Who Mattered” list for 2009!
It’s been at least a decade since we had a pair of authentic, shriek-inducing, catch-me-when-I-faint teen idols on our hands. But suddenly, OMG, they’re back. What makes the stars of the Twilight series so idolizable? It’s partly that ineffable combination of dirtiness and innocence: they’re sexy, but they’re not sexual. They’re also not generically beautiful. God knows they’re hot enough, but they look interesting too. Intelligent. Slightly askew. You don’t just want to look at them or sleep with them; you want to talk to them. Like the vampire Pattinson plays onscreen, you can see that once upon a time they were merely human, just like us.
