After yesterday's announcement that Kristen Stewart was in the bag of nominees for a BAFTA, everything else seems a little trivial by comparison.
Still, the show must go on, so here's a few updates you may be interested in.
For starters, MTV (as promised) issued an exclusive new shot of Stewart in The Yellow Handkerchief. It's really cute. Also, MTV listed Stewart as one of a few celebrities who is set to have an excellent year in 2010 (also chosen: Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus - huh?). "She had everyone talking about her look and her personal life and she insisted that fans, and the media, should focus more on her work than her persona," the site said about 2009. Hopefully, 2010 can be a turn-around in that regard . . .
Another interesting tidbit is from an interview with The Lovely Bones star Saoirse Ronan, who commented about the pressure associated with portraying a popular book's leading (first-person perspective) lady protagonist and how she empathized with Kristen Stewart's plight with regard to Twilight.
"I really sympathize with the likes of Kristen Stewart, who’s playing Bella in Twilight. I think teenagers can make their points more well known than adults, and they feel quite strongly about things — [especially] with a book like Twilight, which I read and loved and that everyone just was sort of obsessed with. And if anyone has their own image of what Bella should be like and then they see Kristen, everything is blamed on her, you know?"
It was also announced today that The Runaways, which will have it’s debut at Sundance and is currently generating a huge buzz on the indie film circuit, will go into wide release on March 19.
This is also the weekend that the New Moon DVD is highly likely (based upon last year’s DVD release date and information on Amazon and Blockbuster) to be out; however, nothing official on that from Summit.
